Letter from Major Harold W. Hanley to his son, Warren Hanley, regarding life in the remote mining town of Camp Bird in the mountains of Colorado. The author recounts two incidents. The first is of a young man, Wilfred Noel, attempting to ski and snowshoe to town to cash his paycheck and getting lost along the way. The second incident is about a man who became ill with a high fever and had to be treated using "heroic measures". |
